Cutting of trees
The purpose was to allow light to penetrate into the lower parts of the olive trees so as not to force them to slide upward in search of free spaces. The next step will be to prune also the olive trees in the way to lead them, a little at a time, at such a height that facilitates the collection directly on the tree but try not sacrificing the main trunk which is often several decades old.
The bulk of the work and effort, as long as required, is not so much in the cutting of the trees, but in their transport and cleaning of the flat terraces that are not accessible to motorized vehicles, and have few easy steps with the weights on the shoulders.
It has proved very useful, both in terms of saving energy that maneuverability, the purchase of small 25cc chain saw which is ideal for pruning. The low weight (less than 3 Kg) and the small size of the blade allow more precise and fast cuts, over a lower fuel consumption. I note instead that it increases the consume of chain lubricant.
